How your score is worked out

We compare your color and the real one with CIEDE2000, a formula that measures how different two colors look to the human eye. A smaller difference gives a higher score. A hint takes 1 point off that round.

ScoreWhat it means
9 to 10Almost the same color
7 to 8.99Close, with a small shade difference
4 to 6.99Right color family, wrong shade
0 to 3.99A different color

Tips for a higher score

  1. Set hue first. A wrong color family costs the most points.
  2. Then set saturation. Cartoon and logo colors are usually very strong.
  3. Set brightness last. People often guess it too dark or too light.
  4. Look at the whole picture. Nearby colors change how a shade looks.
  5. Use a hint only when you have no idea. It costs a full point.

Share your score

At the end you can post your score to the board, save a picture of your result, or send a link to friends. Your name is optional.
